Classes

Once enrolled into one of our various programs, you have the opportunity to attend a combination of the following classes.

Competitive MMA

MMA is an acronym for mixed martial arts this most commonly refers to any combat sport which allows fighters from different styles or those who train in multiple styles to compete. Our MMA program has been hailed as one of the best programs for those looking to begin training in MMA. We not only give you the foundation you need to be successful in martial arts but the transitional tools you will need to apply the techniques you will learn against a variety of opponents. As the sport has evolved three main areas of “the game” have shown themselves to be absolutely necessary for a fighter to know in order to succeed against any opponent. These areas are Stand-Up, Clinch, and Ground. Without a basic knowledge of these three concepts it will be unlikely for a fighter from any fighting style to win a match. With greater knowledge of these three concepts the fighter is enabled to apply his particular fighting style to the match. The reason our program is unique and highly successful is partly because we recognize that each individual will use the tools we give them to accomplish different things based on the mindset he fights with. We have recognized five successful approaches to fighting and address each one showing our students the transitional tools they will need in order to fight and win no matter which approach they choose. In summary our students succeed because we give them a good foundation, and train them based on their approach to winning not just ours. It is not the fastest way to get into competition but it is the right way, and produces long term success.

Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) is the fighting art developed from traditional Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family of Brazil. Jiu-Jitsu originated in Japan as a concept of fighting founded on the idea that instead of meeting your opponents force with your own force it would be more effective to redirect your opponents force against himself. Jiu-Jitsu found it’s strengths in joint manipulations, throwing (aka:Judo), and grappling (aka: submission wrestling). A Japanese Jiu-jitsu master traveled to Brazil and was shown kindness by the Gracie family there. In return he taught them jiu-jitsu. The Gracie family took hold of the concepts in jiu-jitsu and developed them into a very powerful fighting system, especially in the area of grappling. Even though BJJ contains standup techniques for winning a fight, it is famous for its devastating ground fighting techniques. BJJ was specifically developed to allow a smaller person defeat a larger person by sophisticated application of leverage and technique. Gaining superior position on your opponent and applying a myriad of chokes, holds, locks and joint manipulations. BJJ is normally performed in a gi, which serves as a training tool and gives the student a greater element of control.

Ju-Ki-Do

Ju Ki Do is our formal mixed martial arts program. Ju Ki Do "The Gentle Powerful Way" is the mixed fighting system developed by Ivan Ujueta which blends both “hard” and “soft” styles of fighting. This is classic martial arts training from the best of 13 major fighting styles. The “Ju” shared by Judo and Jiu-jitsu is literally translated as gentle or yielding. The “Ki” in Ju Ki Do represents the hard direct styles of fighting and literally means power. To appreciate this one must understand that nearly all fighting styles can be categorized as hard or soft. To be a soft style means that the system teaches its students to redirect an opponent’s force against him. Jiu-Jitsu and Wing Chun are good examples of this. To be a hard style simply means that the system teaches its students how to apply direct force to an opponent and to block or absorb an opponent’s force. Karate and Kickboxing styles are good examples of this. Having studied both hard and soft styles Ujueta saw ways to connect them and cause them to flow together without wrinkle. Over two decades of development the Ju KI Do system has been called a living system that shows its practitioners how to flow harmoniously between hard and soft techniques and becoming independent from style or form. Currently it draws from 13 different martial arts styles to train students in this concept. Knowing how to use your opponents force against him, knowing how to generate and use force against your opponent, and knowing when to do each. This is Ju Ki Do.
